which date back to the 1st century a UNESCO World Heritage site. All of the caves
contain varying sizes of statues of Buddha. Additionally, several of the caves have
impressive ceiling frescos.

This morning after breakfast you will leave to the east coast and your chauffeur guide will first accompany you to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s second capital. The ancient city ruins have a mix of both Buddhist and Hindu influences, and are a great place to learn more about the history of Sri Lanka. After exploring Polonnaruwa you will then drive on for your next three nights by the coast.

Day 6 : Passikuda

Today is free to enjoy Sri Lanka’s east coast. The calm sea is ideal for swimming for you might like to test out the hotel pool.

Day 7: Passikuda

Another day free to enjoy the coast. You might like to simple relax on the beach, or enjoy some of the spa facilities. The hotel also offers excursions to a local fishing village if you would like to see some local culture.

This morning after breakfast you drive passes rice paddies and farmland through the most remote areas of Sri Lanka to arrive in Ella / Haputale the Southern Highlands and perfect climate to cool down after sunny beach vacation. Haputale and Ella are picturesque and allows one to explore much including Lipton’s Seat, best visited in the morning. Enjoy the tea experience with a walk through a tea plantation and a visit to a tea factory. There are also several picturesque waterfalls to be explored.

Day 9: Ella / Haputale /Koslanda

After breakfast head to Lipton’s seat lookout is one of Sri Lanka’s most impressive viewpoints (unless it’s misty and cloudy of course, which is why early morning is the best time to visit). The Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to survey his burgeoning empire from here, and today it’s said you can see across emerald hills and tea estates to no fewer than seven different provinces. We could arrange a tuk tuk ride to the location the last 5 km will be lovely experiences. (Optional)

After noon you could pend time enjoying time at the hotel or go explore a water fall with our chauffeur driver who will be happy with prior notice.

If your based in Ella you have the option to go on the adventurous zipline of Flying Ravana, Sri Lanka’s first ever zip-line, located amidst the luscious green estates of Ella. The two-wire zip-line stretches for more than half a kilometre, slides at 80kmph and offers a bird’s-eye view of the beautiful hills of the island.

Ella to haputale/ Koslanda approx. travel time 1 hrs

The drive from Southern hills to Yala will take around 2.5 hrs southeast to the serene and tranquil town of Tissamaharama, which was the capital of the ancient Ruhunu Kingdom in the 2nd century B.C. Tissa is dominated by lakes and gigantic Buddhist Dagobas (temples), lush green paddy fields and lotus-filled lakes attracting many species of water birds including cormorant, purple heron, Caspian tern and the painted stork.

You also have the option to stay closer to the Yala National Park with upgrade hotel options from our selections. For family with toddlers we would recommend to travel deep south for accommodation at the famous Shangri La Hambantota which is another 1 hrs further drive from Tissa or Yala. Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa is a 300-bedroom hotel located in Hambantota offering a host of fun filled activities ideal for family holidays.

Day 11: Tissamaharama / Yala / Hambantota

Time to relax in the morning and enjoy the hotel facility. PM you have the option to explore one of the National Parks. (Yala National Park / Bundala National Park / Weheragala /Lunugamvehera National Parks)

Yala covers an area of approximately 500 square miles and is located in the south eastern corner of the island. Its northern boundaries border the Lahugala Elephant Sanctuary. The terrain ranges from open parklands to dense jungle. Watering holes, small lakes, lagoons and streams provide water for the animals and birds. Notable inhabitants are the leopards, sloth bears, diverse birdlife, sambar deer and mongoose. (Yala is closed in Sep / Oct)

Head along the south coast to Galle where you will stay your final two nights at Sri Lanka southern coast with different types of Accommodation to suite your taste from Inland villas, beach guest houses to Luxury high end resorts.

We also recommend a visit to the historic city of Galle and its 17th century Dutch Fort – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Much of the old Fort, a small walled city with about 300 homes and an old-world feel, still remain with its well-preserved bastions, public buildings, churches, lighthouse and a maze of narrow streets
