surrounding landscape are sights to behold. Here you can see the world-renowned
frescoes of the Heavenly Maidens of Sigiriya.
  • In the afternoon, you will depart for the medieval period kingdom and planned
archaeological site of Polonnaruwa. Built-in the 11th and 12th centuries AD,
Polonnaruwa is a listed World Heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal
Palace, the Gal Viharaya, and four statues of the Buddha in “Upright”, ‘Sedentary’
and ‘Recumbent’ postures carved out of the rock. Once you reach your hotel and check-in, the evening is at your leisure.

over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of cave
paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which
the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14
meters. Afterward, you will transfer from Dambulla to Matale. Here you will visit a
spice garden to see the different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous. You will be
introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and

  • This morning you will depart for Nuwara Eliya. You will board the scenic train from
Kandy to Nanuoya and on arrival, you will travel to Nuwara Eliya by road. Nuwara
Eliya, because of its invigorating mountain climate and scenery, is Sri Lanka’s most
popular hill resort. It is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country producing a
significant share of the world’s best tea. Sri Lanka’s highest mountain
Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located here. As it was mostly occupied by the British
until 1972, it is still known by the locals as “Little England”
  • En route, you will visit a tea factory and plantation where you can learn all about
the process of manufacturing tea. You can also see how tea is graded and taste a

which is an orphanage where the abandoned youngsters can thrive in a protected
setting. It was established by the Born Free Foundation to feed and shelter young
elephants. Every day, the young ones get a taste of the wild before they are fully
released into the surrounding Udawalawe National Park when they are 4 years old.
Galle was the center of the Dutch regime in the 17th century and the majestic Galle
Fort (covering 90 acres), which you will have a walking tour of, bears testimony to this fact. The city is one of the best-preserved colonial-era cities in Southeast Asia
